Reading Grimm's Fairy Tales as a child, "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" was my favorite one. Now we have a version of this wonderful story illustrated by the amazing artwork of the inimitable Miss Clara! She is a French artist who constructs the people,landscapes, and creatures in her illustrations entirely of paper and hand-paints them, then photographs them. Their charm and mysterious beauty must be seen to be believed! They are delicate, surprising, and almost magical. They make me believe in fairytales once again. If you are a connoisseur of beautiful, unforgettable children's books, then you must have this one. It is too lovely to be missed. Miss Clara has also done an extraordinary version of "The Snow Queen" which is equally appealing. The tale is beautifully told in "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" and immeasurably enriched by Miss Clara's artwork.
