This product music is very nice and is recommended to all. The Original probably comes fromsword brand.If you're a fan of Jim Reeves (1923-1964) you're almost sure to own this album. If you're not a fan, it's an album with merit. Reeves's buttery voice, a mezzo-baritone, is accompanied by a female chorus and lush orchestral arrangements, which capture something of the "countrypolitan" sound that Chet Atkins perfected while producing country music at RCA during the 1960s. The standout tracks are those Reeves made famous: "An Old Christmas Card" and "C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S," as well as a very respectable cover of "Blue Christmas." This is not a flashy album—that was not this singer's style, and one wishes he had loosened up just a mite—but it's a solid one.If you are a Jim Reeves fan, this is for you! Jim had the best singing voice ever...also, not your usual Christmas songs, some are but all are great with special meaning. I remember listening to these songs when I was young...my uncle had the album. As soon as I put the CD on, I was back to those happy times! You won’t be disappointed!I have the record & a 8-track player of Jim Reeves 12 Songs of Christmas & use to enjoy them, but outdated I no longer listened to that Christmas music. Then, I happened to "stumble" on to the Christmas music on Amazon by accident & to my surprise I found what I had searched for in the past but could not find & actually had given up on. I am delighted with this CD. It sounds better than the original record & 8-track that I have. I am still listening to it in my car & enjoying it just as much as the day I received it. Speaking of receiving merchandise from Amazon, I have not ever seen anyone to ship your items as quickly as Amazon does. I mean, they don't fool around. My thanks goes out to Amazon for the superior merchandise & low prices & for the fast delivery.It was the early 60's when i got my first "record player" & the holiday selections Santa provided included Elvis....Johnny Cash...Chubby Checker/Bobby Rydell...& stuck somewhere in the middle was this much loved balladeer i had never heard of. The standard holiday tunes are here along with a very entertaining southwestern number (Senior Santa Claus). "An Old Christmas Card" will remind you to cherish what you have now for it will be gone sooner than you realize. I'm glad to say i can remember when country music was more than cry in your beer or MTV grade tecno videos. If you know & appreciate Jim Reeves you will enjoy this music. If you don't but want to remember a simpler time & the joy of Christmas i highly recommend it. His voice has & will continue to withstand the test of time.We had a 33 record of this when I was a kid. I had missed the songs through the years. I really enjoyed getting this CD.Very pleased with this CD!Jim Reeves had a voice in a million. This album features Jim singing Christmas songs that run the gamut from sacred to fun and do them all justice. His versions of "Silent Night", "Jingle Bells" and "Mary's Boy Child" are so heart-warming. I'll never tire of listing to that mellow baritone during the holidays.Like other reviewers I bought this as a bit of nostalgia.My gramps used to have this LP on vinyl. ( He had the red covered version which he'd bought from the record bar at Woolies) He'd have it on full pelt in the big front room when we went for christmas (much to my nan's consternation, although i think she secretly loved it too !). I can still picture him now clear as day sitting peeling an orange and cracking nuts, and he's been dead for over 23 years! Buying this album made me both happy and sad at the same time , if that makes sense?It's inoffensive and easy listening, and the upbeat songs 'Christmas poker' and 'señor santa claus' make me have a little jig.Thanks Amazon!I first purchased this album over 40 years ago on vinyl, later on cd. My children grew up listening to him. Have it on in the background including Christmas morning whilst opening presents.bought for my sister as she misplaced hers, this was played every Christmas when we were growing up brings back lovely memories everytime i play it. Delivery was exceptional not expecting it till end of Jan and it was received last week.I have been looking for the original 12 songs of Christmas, for my daughter, who is now 38, she loved this album when she was little and i played it on an LP every Christmas When i came across it on Amazon i was delighted. I thought the price was very good It said it would take a couple of weeks to arrive, which it did, it was in perfect condition. I gave it to her yesterday and she was thrilled with it and played it right away, she said it brought back great memories of Christmases gone by.Gentleman Jim's only xmas album should be on your playlist every xmas, along with all the other classic crooners.
