Product Description Twelve Tracks, Twelve Guests. A celebration of Pop featuring Jeffrey with friends such as Brian Wilson, Gerry Beckley (America), Robert Lamm (Chicago), and Marshall Crenshaw. Review Foskett simply takes the great influences of Pop music, shakes them up and produces a sound that is his and his alone. -- Amplifier Magazine About the Artist The music industry has received a wake up call from a talented and refreshing new solo artist, Jeffrey Foskett. Jeffrey will provide the jolt of electricity needed to jump-start you from the everyday, ho hum listening experience that weve all become so unwillingly accustomed to. His music presents a true spectacle of images, a collage of sounds produced by some of the many great bands he has had the opportunity to record and tour with, e.g. Page and Plant, Chicago, Ringo Starr, The Moody Blues and of course, The Beach Boys. Jeffs voice, the only voice ever capable of replacing Brian Wilsons on stage, is the purest of all instruments, soaring beautifully over his catchy, well written songs. He should be applauded for keeping alive a great musical heritage, and youll hear it all in his CDs. Jeffrey Foskett is a veteran of the rock wars and an enduring foot soldier who has survived the explosion of too many trendy pop sounds in music. Some say he is the architect of the New California sound. Jeffrey was born and raised in the mid-1950s in beautiful Northern California and spent his formative years as a musician emulating, in his own bands, the great groups of the sixties and seventies. While attending the University of California Santa Barbara in the mid-1970s, Jeff formed the seminal Power Pop band The Pranks. Having recorded over 80 songs with The Pranks, they garnered many accolades from the press and the music industry leading to several offers from various record labels. However, in the early 1980s, Jeff was invited by The Beach Boys to tour with them replacing the then recently departed Carl Wilson (at that time in pursuit of his own solo career). Of course Foskett accepted the offer effectively ending The Pranks tenure in the business. This howe! ver created an entire new level of opportunity for Jeff to record and perform worldwide. Jeffrey toured with The Beach Boys for 10 years from 1980 to 1990. His musical and vocal talents were immediately appreciated by the band and he was soon given lead vocal responsibilities on many of their most popular hit songs. Concert-goers in the 1980s could hear Jeff sing lead on The Warmth of The Sun, Dont Worry Baby, Hushaby, and Wouldnt It Be Nice to name a few. You can still hear his voice and guitar playing on the worldwide #1 hit Kokomo. Fosketts musical talents did not go unnoticed by both critics or his musical peers. Indeed, the London Times newspaper, renowned around the world for its meticulous reporting and accuracy, actually mistook him for Brian Wilson during one of the Beach Boys much applauded Wembly Arena concerts! By the mid 1980s, Foskett was a much sought after vocalist for both recording sessions as well as live performances. His talents can be heard on discs by Paula Abdul, Julio Iglesias, America, Jimmy Page, The Everlys and The! Moody Blues. So what, you ask, would an artist do with all of this acquired musical talent, performing expertise, studio expertise and vocal capacity? Jeffs answer to that question has been to record and release not one, but five CDs in an 18 month span between July 1996 and December 1998. During the first six months of 1998 Jeff has produced two CDs for different artists and is currently working on his next release scheduled in September 1999. When asked why he waited until recently to record and release his solo CDs Jeff stated I wanted the freedom to express my musical creativity as an individual artist and at the same time show appreciation to the many artists that I have known and worked with over the years for the great musical contributions they have made to my life and career. Currently Jeff is the music director for the legendary Brian Wilson - Singing and playing guitar with Brian in his triumphant return to performing. See more
If Carl Wilson had the voice of an angel, Jeffrey Foskett occupies an earthbound seat right next to him. Some people may know Jeff as "that guy from Brian Wilson's Band" (what an understatement) or "that guitarist that used to and again plays with the Beach Boys." But those who know a bit more are familiar with his own work, which is spectacular. Harmonies that make your head sway and tunes that make your fingers tap. A master of the kind of music that in an alternate universe might be the Beach Boys later in their career. But in this universe, it's all Jeffrey Foskett's. Smooth and fun. This is a great pop album, so great that it's hard to pick out a standout track. And the stylings of the guests is so very fun.The only negative? The liner notes are in such tiny type. Maybe since Jeff is older now, he'll insist on larger type going forward! Ha!And while I know that you can buy the music as MP3s, look at the price of some of his other physical CDs. Grab this one fast before it is figuratively and literally out of reach.
