Now that 30 years have passed, it's time to re-visit the jams that made the ‘80s so great. I'm talking about the 12-inch extended versions of songs that were milestones of the R & B old-school era.Of the entire ("Twelve Inch Eighties") series, "Let's Groove" gave me the most "bang" for my buck in terms of acquiring rare dance remixes. Such rarities include The Jacksons - "Walk Right Now," Earth Wind & Fire - "Let's Groove," Eddie Murphy - "Party All the Time," Taylor Dayne - "Tell It to My Heart," Lisa Stansfield - "All Around the World," The Pasadenas - "Tribute (Right On)" and Five Star - "All Fall Down." This may be new to you as well, but the extended version of Billy Ocean - "Caribbean Queen" included in this package is presented differently from the 7:55 version on the original "Suddenly" album.Though I already own some of the 12-inch extended versions on this set, such as Donna Summer - "This Time I Know It's for Real," Pointer Sisters - "Jump (for My Love)," Alexander O'Neal - "Fake (1988 house mix)," Evelyn "Champagne" King - "Love Come Down," and The S.O.S. Band - "Take Your Time (Do It Right)," they sound much better on "Twelve Inch Eighties" because they have been re-mastered.The only downside to the "Twelve Inch Eighties" series is the way the CD's are packaged in folded paperboard (DigiPak). If you intend to remove the CD's for the purpose of listening to them a few times, then you can live with it.
