Benedetto Marcello (b. 1686) was a prolific composer responsible for nine masses, eight Psalms books, more than 350 cantatas forsolo voice, and 80 vocal duets. Among his many writings, his best-known is the satirical pamphlet Téatro alla moda, published in Venice in 1720, the main target of which was Antonio Vivaldi.
